A Christmas celebration

A Christmas celebrationAt the beginning of December more than 120 clients came together for a festive celebration.

Both DASSI and Independence Australia clients attended the annual Christmas lunch, which this year was held at The Centre in Ivanhoe. A huge Christmas tree greeted guests on arrival in the main foyer, whilst the ballroom looked fantastic decorated in red and green.

Highlights included the With One Voice choir, who performed a number of Christmas songs and traditional carols. Before long they had the whole audience singing along!

Following lunch Richard Burn, General Manager Community Services, took the opportunity to present a number of support workers with exemplary service awards. Nominated by their clients, the support workers were recognised for providing excellent service and promoting independence.

Congratulations to Pat Burden, Tina Sterio, Heather Warrick, Yvonne Sanders, Yvette Whitcome, Victoria Chabierski, Shirley Do, Courtney Johnson, Verna Sims, Heraine Jessop, Steffi Smith, Debbie Avery, Kristi Andrejczuk, Mark Shannon, Lourdes Cowl, Glenda Jennings, Narelle McDorman and Lesley Riddell. Thank you to all our clients who took the time to nominate.

The arrival of Father Christmas capped off the day, when everyone was given a surprise goodie bag and the opportunity to have their photos taken with Captain Independence.
