Emma Road gardening bee

Emma Road gardening beeTuesday 18 March saw staff from Bunnings Warehouse and RACV arrived bright and early with their boots on and gardening gloves at the ready.

The garden at Emma Road had become overgrown and was in much need of some TLC. Cheryl, Team Leader at the house showed the volunteers around the property. Residents Ruth and Stuart then sat with the team to talk about their ideas for the garden, including a vegetable patch.

Emma and Janice from Bunnings Warehouse in Croydon volunteered their time for the gardening blitz and also very kindly provided all the plants, tools and mulch for the project. The garden shed at Emma Road had recently burnt down, so Bunnings' generous donation was hugely appreciated by all the residents.

From clearing and pruning to planting and watering the Bunnings team, alongside Simon, Joe, Ann and Michael from the RACV Mulgrave claims office got stuck in and really did a great job.

After a long morning hard at work the volunteers tucked into lunch and enjoyed some hot cross buns. To finish the day the working bee ventured indoors where volunteers gave a helping hand with a spring clean around the house.

Independence Australia would like to say thank you to Bunnings Warehouse and RACV for their support, as well as a big thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers for their hard work. The results are fantastic and the residents are thrilled with their new and improved garden.
