All Abilities State Team take to Margaret Court Arena

For the 2015 netball season Independence Australia continues its support of Netball Victoria and the All Abilities State Team.

Netball Victoria strives to give every Victorian the opportunity to play netball. All Ability Netball provides that chance for people with a physical or intellectual disability to participate directly or indirectly in local clubs and associations.

In December last year, following on from trials at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, a squad of 10 were selected for the 2015 All Abilities Team. Congratulations to Ashley Rollason, Courtney Drake, Emma Mangan, Kylie Campbell, Loretta Devlin Smith, Mikayla Quinn, Renay Hall, Sheree Marks, Sue Hoskin, Tamara Chumbley, Coach Janet Parker, Team Manager Josh Meldrum and Apprentice Coach Mitch Price.

Each year the All Abilities State Team represents Victoria in the prestigious Marie Little OAM Shield Tournament. Following the 2015 squad announcement the team have been training hard in the hope of retaining the Marie Little OAM Shield, which Victoria has won for the past two years.

More recently, on Sunday 17 May, the All Abilities State Team visited the Melbourne Vixens at Margaret Court Arena. During half time of the Vixens and West Coast Fever ANZ Championship match the All Abilities State Team played a short game and showcased their skills to a crowd packed with thousands of netball fans.

In 2015 the Marie Little OAM Shield will be held at Netball SA Stadium in Adelaide, South Australia on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July 2015, coinciding with the Australian Netball League season. Good luck team!
