An insight into our 2017 Independence Australia Daddo Charity Golf Day

Golf enthusiasts and beginners alike came together for Independence Australia’s Daddo Charity Golf Day on Friday 24November.

The annual fundraising event was held this year as it has been since its inception at the prestigious Moonah Links Golf Course in Fingal, Melbourne.

Players arrived at 8:30am sharp and were welcomed by Independence Australia’s friendly volunteer team, offering polos provided by Neodigital, complimentary bottled water donated by Impact National and gift bags filled to the brim with treats provided by our generous sponsors.

This year marked 13 years since Independence Australia’s Daddo Charity Golf Day began and as in past events, players on both the Open and Legends courses were eligible to enter two competitions; ‘Nearest to the pin’ and the popular ‘Hole in one’ In which entrants were given the opportunity to win a brand new Mercedes Benz SLC200 thanks to Mercedes-Benz Mornington.

Once geared up and ready to go, players boarded their respective golf buggies and hit the courses for a day of fierce competition with real time app tracking of their competitor’s scores thanks to event partner Golf Select. Stop off points at each hole were also available, giving players a chance to refuel and purchase tickets to Independence Australia’s infamous Monster Raffle draw.

As the day drew to a close, players made their way back to the clubhouse to enjoy beverages and a BBQ dinner on the balcony as provided by TENA.  The Monster Raffle was then drawn, gifting 28 lucky players a prize donated by our generous sponsors. This year’s prizes included; a Western Bulldogs 2016 AFL Premiership Lithograph, exclusive dinner gift vouchers, electronics and accommodation packages.

The event raised a staggering $60,000 through ticket sales and sponsorship, which will which will help fund Independence Australia’s psychology and counselling programs which receive little or no government funding.

Independence Australia would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who attended the 2017 Independence Australia Daddo Charity Golf Day. We would also like to thank our event day supporters and the Daddo family for their constant support.
