Gone in a flash - Accessibility Weekend over for another year

Organised by Independence Australia, the event provided free access for wheelchair users and a carer to over 30 of the state’s top attractions.

In the lead up to Accessibility Weekend, participants who use a wheelchair had registered themselves over 150 tickets, with many making the most of the opportunity and visiting more than one attraction.

Melbourne Museum, Eureka Skydeck, Kryal Castle and Living Legends were among the venues which welcomed wheelchair users over the weekend which was held as part of the national campaign, Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (5 – 11 September).

Participants were encouraged to share photos of themselves exploring Victoria’s accessible venues.  In return for their snaps, Independence Australia offered the chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. We are pleased to announce the winning photo was taken by Roy Davie. Roy visited Kyral Castle near Ballarat during Accessibility Weekend and sent in this fantastic pic of himself and a knight in full armour. Congratulations Roy!

See you all in 2017!
