Access Friendly Awards 2010

The Access Friendly Awards of Recognition program is now in its third year.

The 'Access Friendly' awards recognise the efforts and achievements of local businesses that demonstrate what we see as the minimum key components of accessibility:

  •
    • Accessible entrances e.g.: flat and wide entry, or ramps with handrails
    • Sufficient turnaround space for wheelchairs (inside building)
    • Accessible toilets at all times

In 2009, twenty councils across metro Melbourne and regional Victoria participated in the awards scheme, and a total of 111 businesses and organisations were nominated, exceeding the target of 100 and providing an increase of 44 businesses to that achieved in 2008.  In 2010 we aim to take the number of businesses being presented with awards up to 200.

We already have a number of councils sending through their nominations, and if you know of a business that is 'doing it right' and meets the above criteria, we invite you to complete the form below.

All businesses nominated will be assessed by their local Metro or Rural Access worker, and all successful organisations will be awarded with a window sticker acknowledging their commitment to disability access.
