About the In Home Support Program
Independence Australia was one of the first agencies to develop In Home Support Programs for people with disabilities. This service allows people with a disability to live independently in their own home and receive assistance with everyday tasks. Independence Australia specialises in spinal cord injury educating and training clients, families and carers in the affects of a spinal cord injury.
In order for our clients to have control over their lives, our experienced Regional Managers in conjunction with the client, design their own rosters and control their own day to day activities. The Regional Manager and the client work together to choose the Support Worker, who is carefully selected and trained to perform their services to the highest standard. The In Home Support is available throughout Victoria providing support and encouragement to clients in their daily living activities, including community access support.
The In Home Support also offers advice and support through the services of a Registered Nurse who is a qualified Continence Advisor giving ongoing support for clients experiencing continence related issues. The nurse also completes an assessment of client medical needs upon commencement of services and refers clients to other services when applicable, liaising with doctors, hospitals and the Royal District Nursing Service.
